Temporary chlorination underway for Eldon water system

Posted

Gradual chlorination is underway for the city of Eldon water system, and Missouri Rural Water Association reports that everything is going as planned.

The temporary chlorination process has been initiated by installing chlorine pumps and tanks at all four well sites. This allows disinfected water to fully circulate through the water towers and the entire distribution system, as required by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

What you may notice (temporarily):

Stronger chlorine taste or smell

Cloudy or slightly discolored water at times

Minor water pressure changes in some areas

These conditions are expected and temporary during system-wide disinfection and flushing.

Per DNR, chlorination will continue only until a 2 parts per million chlorine residual is achieved throughout the system.
