CDBG Application Public Hearing

The City of Eldon will hold a public hearing on November 10, 2026, 5:15 p.m. at the City Municipality Building located at 1000 Highway Y to discuss the city's submission of an application for the Fiscal Year 2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

The city is interested in obtaining all citizens' input on community development needs within the city. As part of the hearing process, citizens will be asked to verbally assist in the completion of a Needs Assessment document. The document will detail what the residents feel are the strengths and weaknesses of the community. In addition to the Needs Assessment, citizens will have the opportunity to discuss the impact of the proposed project on the environment and the environment’s possible impact on the project. The city needs as much local participation as possible in order to reflect the true desires of the community as a whole, as well as the comments relating to the proposed project application. No displacement of persons will be proposed. The city is proposing to implement a solution to remedy the potential disaster of flooding. This would include installing a pump station at the end of the existing discharge location, which will force wastewater to discharge into Blythes Creek. Additionally, a new manhole and outfall would need to be constructed as part of this system to keep the current system in operation during the normal daily operations of the wastewater treatment plant. The total project cost is estimated at $1,073,015.00. The city proposes to contribute $40,000 in cash, $5,000 in-kind labor by city crews, with grant funds of $1,028,015 needed to make up the balance. All citizens are encouraged to attend in order to comment on the proposed activities.
