If you are ready to celebrate our country’s birthday, there are plenty of opportunities starting this weekend.
Eldon
The annual city of Eldon Independence Day celebration will kick off with the 5K run/walk at 7:30 a.m., starting and ending at the aquatic center. Check-in is at 6:45 a.m. and the cost is $15 if pre-registered or $20 the day of the race.

The Miller County Fair/City of Eldon parade will take place at 10 a.m., with lineup at 9 a.m. at Second and Pine Streets.

The festivities will continue with a free swim from noon to 2 p.m. at the public safety building.
The fun continues at 4 p.m. at the airpark, with music by Helen Russell and Company, a petting zoo, vendors and food trucks.
Due to extremely dry conditions, the city fireworks display has been canceled.
Iberia
• The Iberia community will host an Independence Day celebration Saturday, July 1 at the Iberia Lions Club.
The event, from 5 to 10 p.m., will feature hot dogs, tacos, lemonade, ice cream, a DJ, kids activities, volleyball and cornhole, with a fireworks display at dusk.
• Iberia Baptist Church will host an Independence Day celebration Sunday, July 2, starting at 6 p.m.
The event will feature free hot dogs, chips, drinks, water games for the children, a cornhole contest, a watermelon eating and seed spitting contest.
There will also be live music starting at 5:30 p.m. featuring The Hensley Boys, Singing Disciples, Covenant Quartet, Becky Lercher, Roy Bryant family, Shelley Pollard and family.
This will be followed by a fireworks display at dusk.
High Point
Due to extremely dry conditions, the High Point community Fourth of July celebration has been canceled.
Tuscumbia
Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center will host a Fourth of July celebration Friday, July 1.
The event will feature concessions for sale, with proceeds going to the residents’ activity fund.
Hamburgers and hot dogs will go on sale at 7 p.m. and Roscoe’s ice cream truck will also be on-site.
Families are also encouraged to bring blankets or chairs for the free fireworks show by the Tuscumbia Fire Protection District.
