District assignments revealed

Local high school basketball and wrestling squads learned who their district opponents will be this season as the Missouri State High Schools Activities Association (MSHSAA) released class and district assignments for its winter sports, including boys and girls basketball, boys and girls wrestling and girls swimming and diving.

This is the second year MSHSAA has classified boys and girls basketball separately. Some schools will have different districts, or in some cases different classifications.

For example, the Iberia boys basketball team will compete in Class 3, District 10 with Belle, Bourbon, Dixon, Fatima, Linn and Steelville; while the girls will compete in Class 2, District 9 with Crocker, Laquey, Newburg, Plato Richland and Vienna.

The Boys Class 2, District 9. consists of Crocker, Eugene, Laquey, Newburg, Richland, Stoutland and Vienna. 

The Eugene girls will be in Class 2, District 8 with Lincoln, Linn, Russellville, Smithton, Tipton and Windsor.

In Class 1, the St. Elizabeth and Tuscumbia boys will be in District 5 with Calvary Lutheran, Climax Springs, Hermitage, Macks Creek and Wheatland. 

The Lady Lions will be in District 5 along with Climax Springs, Halfway, Hermitage, Macks Creek, Stoutland and Wheatland.

Meanwhile  the Lady Hornets  will be in District 9 along with Calvary Lutheran, Columbia Independent, Community R6, Higbee, Jamestown and Wellsville.

The Eldon Mustangs and Lady Mustangs will be in the same distrcit number, only with different opponents.

The Eldon boys will be in Class 4, District 10 with Bolivar, Buffalo, Eldon, Osage, Springfield Catholic and Strafford. The Lady Mustangs will also be in Class 4, District 10, but with Blair Oaks, Osage, Owensville and So. Boone.

Wrestling

In wrestling, the Mustangs have been assigned to Class 2, District 3. The Mustangs will compete against: Aurora , Blair Oaks, Buffalo, Cassville , Clinton, Harrisonville, Hollister, Knob Noster, Logan-Rogersville, Monett, Nevada, Osage, Pleasant Hill, Reeds Spring and Seneca High School.

In girls wrestling, the Lady Mustangs are in Class 1, District 3 with: Adrian, Aurora, Bolivar, Buffalo, Butler, Carl Junction, Cassville, Clinton . Cole Camp, Diamond, El Dorado Springs, Harrisonville High School, Hillcrest, Holden High School, Hollister, Knob Noster, Logan-Rogersville, Macks Creek, Marshfield, McDonald County, Monett, Nevada, Osage, Pleasant Hill, Reeds Spring, Seneca, Sherwood,  Stover, Versailles, Warrensburg, Warsaw, West Plains and Windsor. Host sites for the district tournaments will be released at a later date.
