With the calendar now flipped to March, it will soon be time for the annual Eldon spring citywide garage sales and cleanup.
The citywide garage sales, sponsored by The Advertiser, have been set for Saturday, April 1.
The ads will be published in the Thursday, March 30 issue of the classified section. The cost is 35 cents per word with a $7 minimum.
The garage sale advertising deadline is 5 pm Monday, March 27.
Note: The dates of spring and fall cleanups are set by Republic Services, which contracts with the city to provide trash service.

Citywide cleanup
The citywide cleanup will begin Monday, April 10, but Republic Services (Allied Waste) will pick up items with a separate truck and not necessarily on regular trash collection days.
To ensure items are picked up, residents should have their items set out Sunday evening, April 9, or no later than 5 a.m. Monday, April 10.
As always, the cleanup is restricted to Republic Services customers located inside the city limits.
Pickup will take place only the week of April 10.
Items need to be bagged or bundled so one person can easily handle them.
All lumber, guttering and other items of length must be tied in bundles and cut in four-foot lengths so one person can easily handle the materials.
No hazardous waste, liquid waste (paints, pesticides, oils, etc.) or yard waste (brush, limbs, grass or leaves) will be picked up.
Also prohibited are car parts such as tires, motor oil, batteries, etc.; appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, hot water heaters, washing machines or dryers.
No concrete or large solid items that could damage Republic Services equipment will be picked up, and any items in question will be left by the driver.
For more information, call Republic Services at (573) 635-8805.
While brush and yard waste is not accepted, burn permits are available by calling the Eldon Fire Department at 392-9111, extension 2.
Composting
The city also has a composting site behind the public works building on Highway Y.
Yard and garden waste can be dropped off at that site (leaves, grass, etc.). Leaves must be emptied from trash bags and the bags removed from the site.
Items for composting can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
For more information, call city hall at (573) 392-2291.
